Pathologically,the condition is characterized by glial cell tumors which arise in the cerebral hemispheres and retina. Clinical manifestations include MENTAL RETARDATION; adenoma sebaceum of the face (actually angiofibromas); EPILEPSY; SPASMS; INFANTILE; Shagreen patches on the trunk; and subungual fibromas.
